Isstvan V pt. 3
Legendary Missions
Phase I Legendary Battle: Vanguard Fury
The forces loyal to the Imperium crash into the surface of Isstvan V via drop pod and ship. Tens of thousands of Space Marines assemble on the blackened earth, filled with a desire for retribution!
THE ARMIES
Choose the armies as detailed previously excepting that the Attacker (Loyalist force) should have 2,500 points available to it, and 3,000 points for the Attacker (Loyalist). If the game is being played on a 8’ x 6’ table, feel free to field 3,300 for the Defender (Traitor force) and 4,000 points for the Attacker (Loyalists). If playing at the higher end of this, this battle makes for an excellent team game played over a full day!
THE BATTLEFIELD
Set up terrain IAW the AoD BRB and this document.
DEPLOYMENT
• Prior to setting up objectives, the Defender sets up any player-owned fortifications.
• The Defender then sets up three game objectives in their deployment zone. Each objective may not be within 6” of the edge of their circular deployment zone or 8" of another objective. They may be placed on the upper surface of fortifications, but if the fortification they are in is destroyed, they are themselves automatically destroyed with no saves. They may not be deployed inside intact buildings.
• The Defender must deploy first and does so in the Defender's deployment zone. The player's entire force, except for any units held in reserve, is deployed into their deployment zone.
• The Attacker must deploy second and does so in the Attacker's deployment zone. The player's entire force, except for any units held in reserve, is deployed into their deployment zone.

VICTORY CONDITIONS
This mission's victory conditions are based on the Attacking force trying to destroy the Traitors' objectives. At the end of the game, the player who has scored the most Victory points has won the game. If the players have the same number of Victory points, the game ends in a draw.
Primary Mission Objectives
At the end of the game, the Attacking player gains 4 Victory Points for each objective destroyed.
At the end of the game, the Defending player gains 4 Victory points for each objective still on the table.
Secondary Mission Objectives
• Slay the Warlord (2)
• Giant Killer (1)
• Unbowed and Unbroken (3) – if the Traitors have a greater number of units than the Loyalists at the end of the battle.
• Line Breaker (2) – if the Loyalists have a greater number of units in the Defender’s Deployment Zone at the end of the battle.
First Turn
The Attacker player automatically has the fust turn.
Game Length
Variable game length. At the end of the fourth turn, 4+ on a d6 leads to a fifth turn.
MISSION SPECIAL RULES
Reserves. Also see Campaign Phase I special rules.
Compulsory Reserves: For both the Attacker and Defender, both armies must keep at least half of their total number of units (rounded down) in reserve at the start of the game. The narrow table edges are the Attacking player's while the long table edges are the Defending player's (with any of the Defender's reserves entering by the long edges).
Target Reciprocator Objectives: The Attacker's objectives for this mission are the destruction of three Target Reciprocator Auspex towers, which are a key element in the outer defences of the Urgall fortress-line from the air. These may be represented by suitable objective models mounted on 40mm bases which are also at least 40mm high; comms relays, satellite dishes and other arcane machinery are all appropriate if you have them. These objectives may be shot at and attacked in close combat, but are otherwise completely inert, cannot be affected and count as impassable terrain.

Special Rules: Eternal Warrior (1) against shooting attacks. Breacher Charges and weapons with the Detonate special rule may be used against the Target Reciprocator Objectives.
Deployment Map: Vanguard Fury
The narrow table edges are the Attacking player's while the long table edges are the Defending player's (with any of the Defender's reserves entering by the long edges).
Phase II Legendary Battle: Cataclsm
The forces under overall control of Ferrus Manus strike with a fury never seen amongst the legions. Only the total destruction of the Traitors will be an acceptable outcome!
THE ARMIES
Choose the armies as detailed in this document. This mission is intended to represent one of the key clashes of arms on the battlefield of the Urgall Depression, and so larger games are recommended. If the battle is being fought on a 6' x 4' table, it is recommended that 3,000 points per side be used. If on a larger 8' x 6' table, 3,500 or more points per side are intended. If playing at the higher end of this, this battle makes for an excellent team game played over a full day!

DEPLOYMENT
• Roll off. The winner may choose to deploy first or second.
• The player who deploys first deploys their entire force, except for any units held in reserve, into their deployment zone selecting one from the deployment zones shown.
• The opposing player takes the opposite deployment zone.
VICTORY CONDITIONS
Cataclysm sees the outright attempt of one side to destroy and drive off the other at any and all costs, principally by forcing the foe back in disarray. At the end of the game, the player who has scored the most Victory points has won the game. If the players have the same number of Victory points, the game ends in a draw.
Primary Mission Objectives
Starting with the second game turn, each side gains 3 VPs for each scoring unit in the opposite half of the tabletop at the end of their player turn. Scoring units for this mission are units with the Infantry type composed of five or more models. Units with Line (x) gain a bonus number equivalent to x.
Secondary Mission Objectives
• Slay the Warlord (4)
• Giant Killer (4)
First Turn
The player who deployed first also has the first turn, unless their opponent can Seize the Initiative
Game Length
Variable game length. At the end of the fourth turn, 4+ on a d6 leads to a fifth turn.
MISSION SPECIAL RULES
Reserves. Also see Campaign Phase II special rules.
Meatgrinder: Any Troops choices of the army that are either entirely wiped out or falls back off the table may immediately be replaced with a duplicate unit as part of the controlling player's Reserves.
Deployment Map: Cataclsm
Phase III Legendary Battle: The Blood of the Primarch
The fall of Ferrus Manus was even more unthinkable than the traitorous actions of Horus, for Primarchs were once thought to be as invincible as their father, the Emperor, himself.
Note: Oh, how the turntables have turned!
THE ARMIES
Choose the armies as detailed previously excepting that this mission is fought between 2 ,500 points of Defenders (Loyalists) and 3,125 points of Attackers (Traitors). If the game is being played on a 8’ x 6’ table, feel free to field 3,200 for the Loyalist and 4,000 points for the Traitors. If playing at the higher end of this, this battle makes for an excellent team game played over a full day!
Note: This was originally 2,000 to 3,000, but seemed a bit much. Feel free to tweak as you like, but the Loyalists should definitely be at a points disadvantage.
It is essential to the narrative of this mission that the Loyalist player field one of the three available Primarchs (Ferrus Manus, Vulkan, or Corvus Corax).

DEPLOYMENT
• The Defender must deploy first and does so in the Defender's deployment zone. The player's entire force, except for any units held in reserve, deploy into their deployment zone.
• The Attacker must deploy second and does so in the Attacker's deployment zone but may not for any reason deploy within 6" of one of their opponent's models. The player's entire force, except for any units held in reserve, is placed into their deployment zone.
VICTORY CONDITIONS
This mission is about the life and death final struggle of a Primarch on the battlefield. The only objective for the Attacker is to slay the Defender's Primarch, and for the Defenders to keep them alive.
Primary Mission Objectives
At the end of the game, if the Defender's Primarch is alive, they have won the game. If they are dead, then the Attacker has won.
Secondary Mission Objectives
None
First Turn
The Attacker has the first turn in this mission.
Game Length
The game lasts for four turns.
MISSION SPECIAL RULES
Reserves. Also see Campaign Phase III special rules.
Compulsory Reserves: The Attacker must keep at least half of their total number of units (rounded down) in reserve at the start of the game. The Attacker begins rolling for Reserves in the first turn onwards.
Last Stand: The Defender may hold no units in reserve unless they may only be deployed using the Reserves rules. Their Primarch must be deployed on the table at the start of the game and can never voluntarily leave the table.
All friendly units as the Defending Primarch are +1 Leadership (max 10) and +1 Cool (max 11) while within 12'' of the Primarch. All friendly units from the same Legion as the Defending Primarch are +2 Leadership (max 10) and +2 Cool (max 11) while within 12'' of their Primarch.

Conclusion
Well, that wraps up the three official sections of the Isstvan V campaign! I have something else planned, but if I am being completely honest I am not terribly motivated today. I am feeling a big letdown. This will go out in a couple days anyway, so we will see how things go.
In the meantime, you can check me out Instagram or Facebook!
